KT200II All Options Grayed Out: A Non-Destructive Check Order
Prepared and checked: 10 September 2026
Scope: Non-destructive troubleshooting when an authorized KT200II application opens but its driver or ECU-selection choices are unavailable. This is not an ECU recovery procedure, a license bypass, a board-repair guide or a reason to connect a customer control unit for testing.
Editorial responsibility: Prepared by the ECU Tool Store editorial team from current Microsoft documentation, current ECUToolStore product information and a seller-authored symptom report. No individual technical credential or independent reproduction of this fault is claimed.
Start here: When every KT200II option is grayed out, do not open the interface or delete an unidentified file. First capture the full application window, version, purchased edition and connection state. Then check whether Windows detects the programmer and reports a Device Manager error. Confirm that the authorized installer and activation match the exact Auto, Full or Offline configuration. Use the installer's Repair function only if the supplier identifies that path for your build. If the menu remains disabled, stop and send the collected evidence to authorized support; a gray menu alone does not prove a failed encryption chip, USB cable, license or ECU.
Evidence boundary: ECUHELP publishes a short seller support page describing a gray KT200II menu. It proposes deleting a named cache file, using a repair option and, if that fails, opening the hardware and manipulating or desoldering a chip. That page establishes a reported customer symptom, not a universal diagnosis. The file is not sufficiently identified for safe deletion, and this article does not endorse opening, pressing, tightening or desoldering any component.
What the gray menu tells you
A disabled selection area shows that the application has not made those choices available in the present state. It does not reveal which prerequisite is missing. The relevant state can sit in the application, its edition or activation, the USB driver, the connected hardware, or a provider-controlled service. Treating all five as one problem creates unnecessary reinstalls and can erase the evidence support needs.
| Observation | Useful evidence | It does not prove |
|---|---|---|
| Application opens and all choices are gray | The failure occurs after initial launch | That the interface hardware is defective |
| Programmer is absent from Device Manager | Windows has not enumerated the expected device in that attempt | That the main application must be reinstalled |
| Device Manager shows an error code | A specific Windows device or driver condition exists | That activation is valid or invalid |
| Options change when hardware is disconnected | Connection state affects the application | That a board component needs physical repair |
| Repair restores the menu once | The installed program state mattered in that attempt | That the same action fixes every build or edition |

A controlled check that keeps the unit intact
1. Freeze the original symptom
Take one full screenshot showing the whole program window, not only the gray area. Record the software title and build, Windows edition and version, local time, whether the programmer and any purchased dongle are connected, and whether an ECU is connected. If an ECU operation was already active, do not continue with this article: preserve stable power and the live screen and contact real-time support.
Restarting repeatedly can change a transient condition without explaining it. One documented restart is enough for comparison. Do not test the menu by attaching a control unit, making a bench connection or opening a vehicle session.
2. Match the application to the purchased configuration
Write down whether the order is KT200II Auto, Full, Full with Offline Workstation, or an approved upgrade. Photograph the programmer and dongle labels for private support use, while keeping serials and customer information out of public posts. Use the installer supplied for that exact order by the authorized provider. A folder name, case sticker or white USB key does not by itself establish the licensed edition.
If the software came from another customer, a marketplace archive or an old workshop backup, stop. Mixing online, offline and legacy packages can create a plausible-looking application that cannot expose the correct functions. Ask the seller to confirm the installer filename, version and activation record before changing files.
3. Read Windows device status separately
Open Device Manager, locate the relevant device, open Properties and copy the complete Device status text. Microsoft states that this area shows the error code when Windows reports a device problem. Follow the resolution for that exact code and use only a driver supplied by the hardware provider or a trusted operating-system source. Do not install a generic driver bundle.
A clean Device Manager status is useful, but it does not prove that the KT200II application, edition or service state is correct. Conversely, a driver error can exist while the program window still opens. Keeping these two results separate makes the support ticket much more precise.
4. Use repair only through a verified path
Microsoft documents that some desktop programs provide Repair or Change in Installed apps or Programs and Features, while others do not. If the authorized KT200II installer offers a repair function and the provider confirms it for the installed build, record the current folder and version, disconnect any ECU, run the supported repair, restart once and compare the menu.
Do not delete the seller page's unidentified cache file merely because its name resembles something in your folder. Confirm the exact path, purpose and build with support first. Do not replace a missing DLL from a file-sharing site, copy activation material or disable Microsoft Defender and the firewall to force the menu open.

Stop before the problem becomes hardware damage
The seller article moves from software repair to pressing or desoldering an encryption component. Those are invasive board-level actions. They can damage pads, traces, enclosure seals or licensing hardware, and they may affect warranty or support eligibility. A gray menu is not sufficient evidence for that diagnosis. Do not open the programmer unless the authorized supplier issues a device-specific written repair authorization and a qualified electronics technician accepts responsibility for the work.
Send support one organized package containing:
- the full gray-window screenshot and timestamp;
- KT200II edition, order reference, activation history and connected dongles;
- application name, build, installer filename and authorized download source;
- Windows edition and version;
- Device Manager device name and complete Device status code;
- whether the symptom changes with the programmer disconnected;
- the result of one provider-approved Repair attempt, if performed;
- every file or security change already attempted.
Stop immediately if Windows Security reports a threat, the installer source cannot be verified, the hardware does not match the order, the provider cannot confirm entitlement, the unit has already been opened, or a customer ECU operation is in progress. Preserve logs and photographs instead of adding variables.
Questions that change the next step
Does a gray driver menu mean my KT200II is broken?
No. It shows only that the application has not enabled those choices. Application state, driver status, edition, activation and hardware are separate possibilities. Replacement or board repair needs stronger evidence from authorized support.
Should I delete the cache file named by the seller article?
Not until support confirms the exact file, path and software build. The public page does not explain the file well enough to make deletion a safe universal instruction. Preserve a copy of the evidence and use a provider-approved repair path instead.
Can I open the case and press the chip back into place?
Do not use a gray menu as justification for invasive work. Opening or applying force can cause damage and may affect support or warranty. Escalate with the software and Device Manager evidence first.
What evidence should I send if Device Manager shows no error?
Send the full application screenshot, software build, purchased KT200II edition, installer source, connection state and the result with the programmer disconnected. A clean Device Manager status narrows the Windows-driver branch, but it does not confirm activation, application state or internal hardware.
Commercial disclosure: ECU Tool Store sells KT200II products and may benefit from related purchases. The ECUHELP page is cited as seller-level symptom evidence, not as an independent ECUToolStore test or a guarantee that one repair will restore every device.
Confirm the purchased configuration on the current KT200II product page. If the program does not open at all, use the software-not-opening guide; if Windows reports a device-specific message, use the Open Device Error guide.
